Report on the diversity of bird species in Kuiburi national park
To study the diversity of bird species in Kuiburi national park a field survey was conducted through direct sightings along trekking routes. During the survey 173 species belonging to 19 orders, included in 56 families were identified. Almost all of the species detected (172 species) are classified as protected in the Thailand Wildlife Preservation and Protection Act (1992). Several species are also included in CITES Appendices. One species is listed in CITES Appendix I, 12 species in Appendix II and 2 species in Appendix III.
All the species identified are included in IUCN red list, six of them are included in the category Near Threatened and 167 in the category Least Concern. Most of the rare species were detected in dry evergreen forest and moist evergreen forest, near the boundary with Myanmar.
