Abstract

This study aimed to explore the diversity and status of amphibian species in Kuiburi national park. From November 2014 to August 2015 amphibian surveys were conducted utilizing the visual encounter methodology. The survey found 22 species of amphibians belonging to 1 order and 5 families. Three of the species detected are protected species. One of the species found is classified as Nearly Threatened in IUCN Red List. Most of the species identified during the surveys are endemic. It is therefore critical to implement management strategies that can maintain a suitable habitat for those species, as well as for protecting the entire biodiversity in the area.
