ABSTRACT:  The land cover classification of Kaeng Krachan national park was developed by using Landsat 8 satellite images (2015) with a suitable band combination and image capturing season. Image enhancement and ground truth activities were also carried out to validate the results of the GIS analyses.  The classification resulted in 16 different land cover types: hill evergreen forest, moist evergreen forest, moist evergreen - bamboo forest, semi - evergreen forest or upper dry
evergreen forest, middle dry evergreen forest, lower dry evergreen forest, dry evergreen - mixed deciduous forest, mixed deciduous forest, dry dipterocarp forest, bamboo forest, secondary
forest, forest plantation, old clearing area, agricultural and residential area, water body,
open area and unclassified.
An interesting result of this classification was the identification of a characteristic floristic
region, unique in Thailand, which is the result of different floristic regions converging in this forest complex.
