Attitudes and perspectives of local communities on the Siamese crocodile (Crocodylus siamensis) management in Kaeng Krachan national park

ABSTRACT : This study aimed to assess the perspectives and to create the participation of local communities on Siamese crocodile management in Kaeng Krachan National park by
conducting 181 questionnaires in 2 villages; Ban Pong Luek and ฺBan Bang Kloi that are located along Petchburi river in Kaeng Krachan National park where fresh water crocodile residing nearby.
It was found that most of people were aware of Siamese crocodile residence in this area as they experienced the crocodiles, culf by themselves and as well as their traces in many
locations along Petchburi river, Bang Kloi river and Mae Sariang creek. They were scared, even though there was no record of being attacked, and they dissent to take their eggs from the natural nests to hatch outside before returning them to the local communities.
